We are thrilled to announce that Skudo has been awarded an EDF2023 (European Defence Fund) grant for the HSM4COM project, which will be a transformative step in securing communications for various defense applications. This 36-month project, focused on securing the processing chain and data communications in critical platforms such as micro-satellites, Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs), and Autonomous Surface Vehicles (ASVs), underscores Skudo’s commitment to advancing European cybersecurity.

The HSM4COM project will develop a highly customizable hardware device combined with a secure operating system (Secure-OS) that provides encryption, decryption, and attestation functionalities. By integrating Skudo’s Hardware Security Module (HSM) technology into this hardware/software solution, the project will offer a generic security platform adaptable to various defense systems, ensuring the protection of sensitive data communication.

What makes HSM4COM unique is its ability to secure communication in both space and terrestrial environments, enabling secure data processing for micro/nano-satellites, UAVs, and ASVs. This platform will ensure high levels of trust and security, vital for operations that depend on uninterrupted and protected communications.

With support from the European Defence Fund, HSM4COM aims to elevate European defense capabilities by developing a solution that not only secures communications but also sets the groundwork for future advancements in cybersecurity, particularly in the post-quantum era.
