In May 2022, Skudo announced that the European Space Agency had awarded a contract to CGI Estonia and Skudo OÜ for a hardware-based secure satellite-communications solution to be validated aboard OPS-SAT.
The planned demonstration covered a live, bidirectional link between the spacecraft and ESA’s ground infrastructure. Skudo’s FPGA encryption technology was subsequently demonstrated aboard OPS-SAT in November 2023.
